Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a very gentle massage which detoxifies your body and strengthens your immune system.
It does this by supporting and improving the functioning of your lymphatic system.
Your lymphatic system is responsible for clearing waste from your tissues and fighting infection.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage is effective in treating a wide range of problems including:
- oedema (fluid build up)
- post-operative tissue congestion and scar formation
- digestive disorders
- poor immune system
- low energy, chronic fatigue and ME
It is highly recommended as part of a post-cancer therapy to reduce oedema and fibrosis and to relieve pain and tension.
Anyone can benefit from lymphatic drainage as part of a general detoxification programme.

“Wanted to let you know how my legs have been after the lymphatic drainage session with you. Over the last few days I found that my legs didn’t swell as quickly and that I could leave my compression stockings off for longer than usual. Each morning they have looked and felt better than usual. Very happy with the result. Thank you.” Julie Denwood. Heald Green.
“Hi Sharon. Just wanted to let you know that after the Manual Lymphatic Drainage massage I slept very well, not waking up once. I’ve also felt much more energised in the last few days. I’m amazed that something so gentle has such a powerful effect.” Brenda S. Stockport

Post surgery your consultant may advise you to have a course of lymphatic massages for speeding up recovery.
This is not the same as the manual lymphatic drainage massage described above but uses deeper movements to:
- help drain excess fluid
- reduce swelling and bruising
- reduce recovery time
- encourage better scar formation.
